When is the application deadline?
You can apply to join the 2020 Firestarter bootcamp until midnight, December 8th.
The program starts early on December 9th.
What Does the program cost?
The program is entirely sponsored by Reykjavik Music City and Iceland Music Export and therefore free of charge.
How is the schedule?
This year, Firestarter will be organised as a two day intensive bootcamp on December 9th - 10th. The bootcamp is based on the 6 week Firestarter Music Accerlerator Program.
We kick things off with an event where industry experts will share their views about the future of the music industry and follow up with business focused workshops and mentor meetings for the participating teams.
I am the only founder - is that okay or do you only look for teams?
We look for great enthusiastic individuals and teams with a full range of skills. We strongly advise you to seek co-founders who balance your skill set. For example, if you’re a strong producer, you might consider adding someone with business and/or marketing experience to your team. In the startup world two is definitely better than one!
I’m concerned that if I apply, you wont protect my intellectual property - Should I be worried?
Your application will not be available to anyone outside the Firestarter team. However, what you will find out is that as soon as you start talking about your idea with industry experts and experienced founders that’s when the magic happens, and your idea starts to grow and develop.
For the record, Icelandic Startups is a non profit organisation and does not take equity in any startups. Each year we receive hundreds of business ideas. Our application does not ask for your “music score” and there is no reason you have to disclose this to us if you’re not comfortable doing so. We value trust and honesty and hope that our reputation speaks for itself.
Do you provide seed money in exchange for equity in my startup?
We don’t invest in your startup (just our time and hard work! ), but we can connect you with potential investors.
